Day 13: Ile d'Orleans - Quebec City, QC

We went to a suburb of Quebec City, Ile d'Oreleans today. It was quite easy to get there. We took a bridge to the island (no charge) and then found an info centre there. After gettiing some info from there, we started driving and stopping by a couple of places/stands. The island and islanders are so laid back. We enjoyed the self-tour and the view of coloured leaves. Love Ile d'Orleans!

Highlights:

１. Coloured Leaves - http://www.iledorleans.com/

Although we saw a lot of good coloured leaves everywhere we went in the east of Canada, we had to say that Ile d'Oreleans was one of the best. We really enjoyed the 67 km loop drive, view from the lookout, view from the spot where we parked the car, view of Quebec City and everything else we saw!

2. Apple Cider

There are quite a few orchards (verger in french - we now know one more french word!) on the island. Therefore, there are several cider firms as well. Since we love tasty drives, we stopped by a few of them and tasted their cider. We purchased one really good ice cider that received a gold medal in 2008. The firmer uses 5 pounds of apples for one bottle. Can't wait to drink it!

3. Parc de la Chute-Montmorency - http://www.sepaq.com/ct/pcm/index.dot?language_id=1

This waterfall was really close from the bridge to Ile d'Orleans. The gap is 83 m which is bigger than the popular Niagara. The view from the suspension bridge was quite nice and scarly (that Hiro says).

今日はケベック郊外にあるオルレアン島へ行きました。オルレアン島へ行くには本土から架かる唯一の橋を渡ります。この島にはりんご園やワイナリー、農場が広がり、とてものんびりした雰囲気で、島全体が紅葉していてとても美しく、また是非とも訪れたい島です。オルレアン島最高！

ハイライト：

１．紅葉

なんといっても紅葉がとても綺麗でした。島１週６７キロをゆっくり車で回り、展望台からの眺め、車を降りて散歩して眺める紅葉、島から眺める本土の景色、すべて最高でした！

２．アップルサイダー園

島に点在するりんご園でアップルサイダー（りんご酒）を何種類かテイスティング。２００８年に金賞を受賞したアイスワインをプロデューサーの（ファンキーな）叔父さんから購入しました。５パウンド（約２．３キロ）のりんごが１本のアイスワインに濃縮されているそうです。とても甘くて絶品！

３．モンモランシー滝

オルレアン島から本土に架かる橋の近くにある、落差８３メートルの滝。滝の上につり橋が掛けられていて、つり橋からの眺めは迫力満点でした。
